I know a little bit about art but almost nothing about Francis Bacon, so this review will be free of the comparisons to Bacon's work that you seem to resent somewhat in the comments haha.

I have some difficulty interpreting artwork that isn't directly representational; I can and do admire it, I just don't always see what is intended to be seen (though I guess that's the primary goal of abstraction in some cases.)

That being said, I'm feeling it's safe to say that this piece is overtly sexual in nature; from the thumbnail it was almost difficult to tell that the central form had even been abstracted, and it was very clear that it was meant to represent two lovers entwined. Up close one can visibly identify a... Tool of love, haha, in the center of the form as well. I think the twisting of the two figures and their sort of gummy "mushing" together, really reinforces the indiscriminate passion between them, and of the act of love in general. I'm really curious to know what, if anything specific, their oval shadow represents; I could see it as a metaphor for life, but I'm really uncertain about it. And one last note, the line work in this is brilliant as well; it's clear that it was carried out with a great deal of care and precision.

Overall, a really nice piece, executed by an expert hand, and spurred on by what was seemingly a very clear vision. Great work <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=":) (Smile)"/>
